Yesterday mom and I drove home from Valdez..it was even sunnier, if that's even possible lol (weirdly enough, my coworker friend Kathy was also in Valdez this weekend! OmgomgOMG I had no idea this existed!!! That is SO awesome! The glacier looked very impressive when it was surging haha (you can still see where the glacier used to be when you drive by there). I so wish I could have seen that..I wish it would surge again! The poor glacier looked like it had receded even more when I drove past it on Saturday. :( ( Read more... )

For the glaciers essay, we were supposed to write about a glacier hazard and what can be done to prevent it or have less damage. I wrote mine on Black Rapids Glacier and the surge of 1937. :D Best essay evar. I shall post it here..

Today's class was super awesome..we talked about how water moves through a glacier and how that can cause some glaciers to surge. The professor talked about Black Rapids Glacier and how the people at the roadhouse reacted when they saw the glacier coming at them (surging glaciers can move 300 feet per day!). Today in class we talked about people predicting the end of the world cause of more earthquakes..there aren't more earthquakes, just more seismic stations to record them. Plus the earth is more populated so if there's a big earthquake there's a good chance it'll hit a populated area and damage it. We also talked about earthquakes in Alaska. The ( Read more... )

Today I went to a vintage Alaska garage sale with Becky. This person has it once a year..I think she's been collecting that stuff a LONG time. There is SO much stuff haha.
